Democrats have Senate candidate, too

Candidate Doug Jones won, outright, the Alabama Democratic Senate primary last week.

I was disappointed Doug’s photo wasn’t also featured (distantly) on the front page with the two scandal plagued Republicans facing a run-off. There is a real choice in this election.

Doug is a fine person. He doesn’t think his personal beliefs supersede the Constitution of the United States or the Supreme Court. He governs by the Rule of Law; well-defined and established laws. Scandals have never revolved around him. How many days has he been a national embarrassment to Alabama? Zero. He is well-regarded on both sides of the aisle.

He’s best known as a former U.S. Attorney who 20 years later prosecuted convicted killers Thomas Blanton and Bobby Frank Cherry for the 1963 Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing.

The shocking act killed four African-American girls during church services.

In an earlier interview, Doug said, “Alabama has been embarrassed enough the last few years by political leaders who have not been leaders at all. I want to change all of that.”

“We need leaders who people can talk to, reason with, and trust even if they don’t agree on every political position. Instead, they’ve played on our fears and exploited our divisions for their own self-interests.”

Doug wants to focus on the real concerns of the people – economy, jobs, healthcare, and education – not political grandstanding.

Visit Doug’s website at http://dougjonesforsenate.com. It’s time for a positive change in Alabama.
