The Pleasant Home Eagles started the year off on the right note with a 27-0 victory over Fruitdale on Friday night in Pleasant Home.
“All-in-all, I was pleased with the way we played tonight,” Pleasant Home head coach Richard Mercer said. “We got a little sloppy in the third, but maybe we can clean that up.”
The Eagles received the ball to start the game and quickly drove down the field for a score.
“I was pleased with how we moved the ball,” Mercer said. “We came in thinking we might be able to run it right at them and we were able to do just that.”
Mercer said that Brendan Douglas rushed for more than 100 yards in the Eagles’ victory.
Rico Bovino added a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Eagles.
On defense, the Eagles were able to keep Fruitdale off the board.
“The defense played really well,” Mercer said. “We were able to stop the run and really make the one-dimensional.”
With the win the Eagles move to 1-0 on the season.
“Now, we get ready for a tough region game against McKenzie,” Mercer said. “It’s going to be a tall order, but maybe we can hang in there and have a chance to win in the end.”
