Looking to improve

The Straughn Tigers look to bounce back in the right direction as they prepare for a tough Class 3A, Region 2 region battle in Straughn on Friday night against Providence Christian.
“I felt like we got a lot better last Friday,” Straughn head coach John Higgins said. “We still have a long ways to go, but we are going to get there.”
Despite losing 26-0 to Opp last week, Higgins liked the improvements that he saw from his team.
“I really felt like we played harder and we played smarter,” Higgins said. “The defense played well and offense was able to move the ball, but just couldn’t get into the end zone. We gave up a few big plays, but overall, I was pleased with the progress that we made in one week.”
As for Providence Christian, Higgins said that it would be a different than what they have seen so far this year.
“So far, all we have seen are teams that like to get us in space, but Providence is going to create a whole new set of problems,” Higgins said. “They are going to get in two-tight and run between the tight ends every play. Possessions will be limited in the this game, and that means you have to be concerned with every single play.”
Straughn and Providence Christian will kickoff at 7 p.m., on Friday night in Straughn.
