Pleasant Home and Andalusia battled it out on the volleyball court on Tuesday night in Pleasant Home with Lady Eagles coming away with a 3-1 victory.

“That was easily the best match that we have played all year,” Pleasant Home head coach Jerry Davis said. “That was better than any game we played over in the Kinston tournament. We have a lot of young girls who are just getting their first varsity experience and we are dealing with some injuries, but that is stuff that everybody goes through.”

In the opening match, the Lady Eagles jumped out front early and held on for a 25-16 victory.

River Baldwin had several big kills for the Lady Eagles in the opening set.

Tori English kept the Lady Bulldogs in the game with a few kills and an ace.

The Lady Bulldogs started strong in the second set and held off the Lady Eagles for a 25-14 victory to tie the match at 1-1.

Isa Reyes had a couple of timely aces and Anna Brady tacked on a few blocks and kills to help pace the Lady Bulldogs.

In the third set, the Lady Eagles used strong runs to knock off the Lady Bulldogs 25-16.

Baldwin ended the set with four aces and a kill to cap off an 8-0 run that sealed the victory.

The Lady Eagles finished off the match with a 25-14 victory in the fourth set for a 3-1 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

Baldwin got the set started with a pair of kills on the way to 4-0 Lady Eagles start.

After the Lady Bulldogs got a point, a block from Baldwin and a pair of aces from Hope Gunter gave the Lady Eagles a 9-1 lead.

The Lady Eagles continued to battle and cruised to a 25-14 victory.

“I’m really proud of this group of girls,” Davis said. “We aren’t where we need to be yet, but these girls are hard workers and they are going to get there. I don’t know if it’s going to be five games down the road or when it will be, but we have a chance to be a very good team. Right now, our biggest thing is inexperience, and the only way to do anything about that is to just keep playing them. I’m telling you, this  team has a lot of potential. A lot of these girls had never played a varsity game until just a few weeks ago.”
