LESLIE A. SMITH

Mr. Leslie A. Smith, 79, of Andalusia, passed away Sun., Sept. 17, 2017, in the Florala Health and Rehab.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 20, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Brent Cook officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Smith of Andalusia; two sons, Randy Smith of East Liver Pool, Ohio, and Jessie Black of Jasper, Tenn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and James Linquist of Titusville, Fla.; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Naomi Baker of Cincinnati, Ohio, Anna Gallager of Milton, Fla., Robin Fetthoff of Milton, Fla., and Teresa Talbot of Baton Rouge, La.; three brothers, Donald Smith of Milton, Bill Smith, and Norman Smith, both of East Liver Pool, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

LAMAR GANTT  

Mr. Lamar Gantt, 74, of River Falls, passed away Fri., Sept. 15, 2017, in Dothan after a brief illness.

Lamar was a painter for 55 years. He retired in 2004 from Covington County Schools Maintenance Shop.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tues., Sept. 19, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in River Falls Cemetery. Brother Alan Joyner will officiate the service.

Visitation was Monday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Frances Gantt; parents, Willie and Elma Gantt; a brother, Ray Gantt; a sister, Hazel (Mathew) Hendrix; and a nephew, Michael Little.

Survivors include a son, Keith (Steve) Gantt of Andalusia; a daughter, Michelle Gantt Kelley of River Falls; one brother, Jack (Barbara) Gantt of Evergreen; his sisters, Renee Hudson (Kenneth Wilson) of River Falls, and Betty (Thomas) Jackson of River Falls; a companion; Elaine Peavy of River Falls; and sister-in-law, Debbie Peavy of River Falls; and a granddaughter, Mary Katherine Kelley of River Falls, the light of his world. Extended family included two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

Pallbearers will be Willie Jay Hendrix, James Jackson, Don Jackson, Zach Meeks, David Kelley, and Mark Grantham.

LAURA FRANCES (BASS) BARNETT

Laura Frances (Bass) Barnett, age 88, of Andalusia, went home to be with the Lord on Sun., Sept. 17, 2017.

Keahey Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

She is survived by four children; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff of Florala Health and Rehabilitation as well as the nurses from Comfort Care Hospice. Special thanks goes out to Mrs. Faye Smith and her service dog, Peppi. They extend their gratitude for the amazing love, compassion, and support provided by the two care facilities and Mrs. Smith.

 

TANYA MARIE ARNOLD

Ms. Tanya Marie Arnold, age 40, of Dozier, passed away on Mon., Sept. 11, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tues., Sept. 19, 2017, at Word of Faith Church in Brantley with Pastor Keith Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at Word of Faith Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Keahey Funeral Home.

She is survived by her two sons, Joe Javor (JJ) Arnold and Alfred Quantavous (Quan) Arnold; her granddaughter, Emmilyn Grayson Arnold; her two grandsons, Gabriel Partlow Trammel and Alfred Quantavous Arnold Jr.; her siblings, Thomas Wane (Laverne) Arnold, Jennifer Ann Arnold, Michelle Arnold, Mary Adams, as well as six more sisters and two brothers; her special friend, Mac Franklin; her best friend, Stephanie Campbell; and her beloved dog, Tut.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Thomas and Mary Ellen Hall Arnold; two sisters, Sarah Jane Wilson and Ann Hanney; and her brother, James Wilson (Bubba) Arnold.
