VIRGIL DILLARD

Mr. Virgil Dillard, Sr., 92, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Sept. 23, 2017, in the Andalusia hospital. Mr. Dillard was born Jan. 21, 1925, to Andrew Dillard and Minnie Anderson Dillard. He worked for many years driving a truck for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the VFW and a member of the Gantt Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wed., Sept. 27, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Aaron officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens in Opp. Visitation will be from 5:30 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Virgil (Jody) and Judy Dillard, Jr. of Andalusia; his grandchildren, Perry (Stephanie) Dillard of Enterprise, and Timothy Dillard of Andalusia; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Dillard of Enterprise; two sisters and brother-in-law, Ida and Charles Harper of Olympia, Wash., and Ada Bailey of Daphne, Ala. Pallbearers will be Phillip Jones, Dwight Dillard, Bo Dillard, Perry Dillard, Randy Bailey, Robert Cook, and Doug Bailey. OLENE HAMMETT SANDERS

Mrs. Olene Hammett Sanders, 91, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Sept. 23, 2017, at her residence.

Graveside services were at 1 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 25, at Good Hope Cemetery in Dozier with Brother Gary Holloway officiating the service and Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation was Monday at Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband of 74 ½ years, James V. (Buddy) Sanders of Andalusia; two daughters and son-in-law, Erlene and Frank Lee of Midwest City, Okla., and Merlene La Pan of Andalusia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Mary Jane Sanders of Gainesville, Ga., and James and Lynn Sanders of Flowery Branch, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Kinnie Sanders of Flowery Branch, Ga.; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who were all special to her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Oscar (Boss) Hammett and Alice Elefare Sims Hammett; several sibings; her son, Jake Sanders, who died the day before his mother; a son-in-law, Robert “Bob” La Pan; and grandson, Pierre Gabriel Koellner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Hope Cemetery Fund c/o First National Bank in Dozier.

Pallbearers were Jack Ammons, Phillip Sanders, Veston Koellner, Richard Myers, Daniel Myers, and Michael Johnson.

EVELYN WIGGINS

MURPHY

Mrs. Evelyn Wiggins Murphree, 86, formerly of Andalusia, passed away Sun., Sept. 24, 2017, in Daphne, Ala. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tues., Sept. 26, at Fairmount Cemetery in Red Level with Brother Eugene Meadows officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Kendall Taylor of Robertsdale; her grandchildren, Alex (Ruth) Taylor of Fairhope, and Leigh Perry of Gulf Shores; and two great-grandchildren, Garrett Perry and Dylan Perry.

Memorials may be made to Oakey Ridge Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Kendall Taylor, Lee Enzor, Alex Taylor, Johnnie Meeks, Sammy Brown, and Micky Underwood.

Mr. Gerald (Jerry) Mims, age 78, of Red Level , passed away on Mon., Sept. 25, 2017, at Georgiana Health And Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services for Mr. Mims will be held at 10 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 27, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tues., Sept. 26, from 5-8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.

Mr. Mims is survived by his wife, Lillie Mims of Red Level; son and daughter-in-law, Tracey (Jaqueline) Sheffield of Ft. Walton Beach; sons, Jerry Mims of Dade County, Fla., Jimmy Mims of Dade County, Fla., Donny Mims of Tyler, Texas; two grandchildren, Jack and Sam Sheffield; sister, Carolyn Nichols of Dade County, Fla.; half brother, Raymond Williams of Charlotte, N.C., and numerous nieces and nephews.

MAVIS W. LINZY

Mrs. Mavis (Worley) Linzy, age 94, formerly of Andalusia, passed away Mon., Sept. 25, 2017, in a Foley nursing facility.

Mrs. Linzy is survived by her son, Sheldon Oscar (Linda) Linzy of Elberta, Ala.; her grandchildren, Brandon Scott (Melissa) Linzy, and Kimberly Marie (Dewayne) Evans; and her great-grandchildren, Brandon Scott Linzy, Jr, Luke Linzy, Linzy Evans and Ryan Evans; and one great-great granddaughter, Alexia Conway.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wed., Sept. 27, 2017, at Antioch Congregational Church Cemetery with Rev. Woody Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wed., Sept. 27, 2017, at Keahey Funeral Home.

Jimmy Lamar Little

Jimmy Lamar Little, age 74, a resident of Saraland since 1969, passed away on Tues., Sept. 12, 2017.

He was employed by CSX Railroad as a Car Shop Foreman, having worked in the Mobile office for many years and then in Nashville and Montgomery, retiring in 1998.

He was a member of the Central Church of Christ, having been baptized as a youth in his home church of Cedar Grove Church of Christ in Andalusia where his grandfather Stokes was a co-founder and elder. He was a graduate of Pleasant Home School in Andalusia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Duncan Cullen and Lurlie Rae Stokes Little, brother Cullen Stokes Little, nephew Brian Little, brother-in-law Dennis W. Pruitt and sister-in-law Connie P. Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Mary Ellen Pruitt Little; son Jeffrey Lamar (Pam) Little; daughters, Karen Little (Breck) Messer, and Laura Suellyn Little; sister, Renee L. (Don) Gardner; and brother, Danny (Kathy) Little; grandchildren, Lauren M. Walley, Ryan D. Messer, Mary Emily Messer, Joey Hart and Tyler Hart; sisters-in-law, Virginia Little, Rhonda P. (Liston) Jones, Debora S. Pruitt, and brother-in-law David L. Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held on Fri., Sept. 15, in Saraland.
