With the landfall of two major hurricanes in the past month, Alabama residents and residents across the United States have seen gas prices rise, but they should be dropping in the coming weeks.

“Our prices are slowly coming down and we should see lower prices coming in Oct.,” AAA Alabama public relations and marketing manager Clay Ingram said. “We have already seen a little bit of a drop as our state average is $2.44 today compared to $2.53 a couple of weeks ago. There are still some refiners working to get back on line, and that will help our prices continue to drop.”

According the AAA website, the current national average is $2.57. That is down from a week ago when it was $2.61.
