Ethel Louise Miller Robertson

Ethel Louise Miller Robertson, eldest daughter of the late Mr. Luther M. Miller and Mrs. Lula Doris Brooks Miller, born Oct. 13, 1942, in Mobile County, Ala., received her wings and went home to be with God on Sept. 24, 2017.

Ethel, the eldest of four, was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley. Ethel confessed her faith in Christ at the age of 12 and united with First Baptist Church on Whatley Street where she remained a faithful member under the current leadership of the Rev. Darryl Calloway until departing this life. She was an active member of the Junior and Senior Usher Boards, an Adult Sunday School Teacher, Youth Director, Gospel Chorus and Missionary Society.

Active in the world of education and the community she helped make a difference in the lives of many children and promoted Civil Rights in the Andalusia and Covington County area. After retiring from the Andalusia School System in 2009 she continued her community work by serving on numerous boards, performing her church work and enjoying her family, friends and traveling.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Richard Robertson; two devoted daughters, Michele Robertson of Midway, Fla; Mirenda Robertson Kirksey (Broderick) of Keller, Texas; adopted daughter, Lena Miller (Alton) of Dothan, Ala.; four grandchildren, Kelsey Kirksey; Kevin Miller, Kris Miller and Keisha Miller; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Miller Crittenden of Andalusia; one brother and sister-in-law, Willie Ray Miller (Patricia) of Riverview, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Belle Montree (James) of Buffalo, N.Y.; five nieces; four nephews; eight great-nieces; one great-nephew; Godson Russell Thomas; devoted cousins, Emma Locke and Diane Anthony; and a host of relatives and devoted friends.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kirk’s Funeral Chapel, 501 Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway, Andalusia. Viewing will be Fri., Sept. 29, at Kirk’s Funeral Chapel from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sat., Sept. 30, at First Baptist Church on Whatley Street, 504 Whatley Street, Andalusia.

Roxie Smith

Bozeman

Mrs. Roxie Smith Bozeman, 92, of Opp died Tues., Sept. 26, 2017, in the Opp Health & Rehab.

Mrs. Bozeman is survived by her sister, Mary Roberson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edison Bozeman.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sun., Oct. 1, 2017, in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Johnny Brooks will be officiating with special music by her great-niece, Jill Spurlin. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.
