VANCE WILLIAM GRIGGS

Mr. Vance William Griggs, 77, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., Oct. 3, 2017, at Andalusia Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 6, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dean Stanley officiating. The interment will follow in New Home Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his daughter, Joy Ann Griggs; two grandchildren, Brian Griggs and J. C. Harrell; a brother and sister-in-law, Truman and Sue Griggs; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Jerry Hallford, Charlotte and Allen Harrison, all of Andalusia; and many nieces and nephews. JOHN WILLIAM TISDALE

Dr. John William Tisdale, Sr., 90, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., Oct. 3, 2017, at his residence.

He was born on July 25, 1927, in Andalusia, AL. He graduated from Andalusia High School, Class of 1945, and had athlete lettering in both baseball and football. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17 in 1945.

Dr. Tisdale graduated Auburn University with a doctorate in veterinary medicine. He played on Auburn Football “B” Team and lettered on Auburn varsity baseball team. He also played semi-pro baseball and became a lifetime member of the PRCA, Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Dr. Tisdale served Andalusia families, their pets, and livestock for many years until retirement in his large and small animal veterinary practice.

Dr. Tisdale married Rutheen Green Tisdale from Shreveport, LA, who later retired after many years as an Andalusia elementary school teacher.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Sat., Oct. 7, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Deborah Rutheen Tisdale of Andalusia; two sons and daughters-in-law, John W. and Jennifer H. Tisdale, Jr. of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and Dr. George G. and Rose Anne Tisdale of Birmingham; seven grandchildren, John William Tisdale, III, Benjamin Tarrant (Laurel A.) Tisdale, George Brandon Tisdale, William Bruce Tisdale, Sarah Rose Tisdale, Katherine Anne Tisdale, Jayden Alexander George Tisdale; three great-grandchildren, Marlee A. Tisdale, Kaylee A. Tisdale, Adalyn G. Tisdale.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Eddie Rutheen Green Tisdale; his parents, Solomon and Nannie Cary Tisdale; and daughter, Nancy Anne Tisdale.

MYRON INGRAM

Myron Ingram, 65, of Red Level, died Oct. 5, 2017, at Baptist in Montgomery.

Funeral services will be Sat., Oct. 7, at 3 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for an hour preceding the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Red Level.

LESTER PHILLIPS

Mr. Lester Phillips, 85, of Florala, passed away Wed., Oct. 4, 2017, in the Chautaugua Nursing Facility.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Mon., Oct. 9, 2017, at the Stateline Church of Christ. The Rev. Robert Harrison and the Rev. Kevin Presley will officiate. Special music will be provided by Ed Harrison, David & O’Quinn Willis and Darrill Fink. Burial will follow in the North Creek Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home of Lockhart officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Geohagan, Matt Geohagan, Bud Phillips, James D. Phillips, Marshall Phillips and Mark Phillips. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sun., Oct. 8, at Keahey Funeral Home of Lockhart.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Eva Phillips of Florala; children, Ken (Paula) Phillips of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and Rhonda (Steve) Geohagan of Florala; grandchildren, Katina Barroso of Orlando, Fla., Sabrina (Robert) Davis of Panama City, Fla.; Presten Sporko of Panama City, Fla., Matt (Coty) Geogahan of Brent, Ala., Mark (Whitney) Geohagan of Andalusia, Paige (Johnathan) Campbell of DeFuniak Springs, Ashley (Alex) Eaton of DeFuniak Springs, Fl, Hannah Phillips of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Madison Phillips of DeFuniak Springs, Fla; nine great-grandchildren; brother, James (Bobbie) Phillips of Andalusia.

Mr. Phillips worked as a logger most of his life. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Sporko.

 

JAMES ROBERT DUBOSE

 

Mr. James Robert DuBose, age 74, of Opp, Alabama, passed away Tues., Oct. 3, 2017. James served as the assistant pastor at Fleeta Assembly of God Church. He loved fishing and hunting.

Mr. Dubose is survived by his wife, the Rev. Dell DuBose of Opp; his daughter, Tammy Ingram (Robert) of Elba; his sons, Alan DuBose of Opp and David Messick (JoAnne) of Baker, Fa.; his grandsons, Jamison Bailey, Jason Messick, Jessie Messick, Mathew Messick and James Messick; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Kelly of Opp, Louise Rogers of Florida and Mary Shear of Texas; and his brothers, Arnold DuBose of North Carolina and Jack Pugh of Enterprise. He was preceded in death by his brother, Pete DuBose.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Sat., Oct. 7, 2017, at Fleeta Assembly of God Church. Memorialization is by cremation.
