Bobcats get big win in Slocomb

The Opp Bobcats looked to rebound to start region play and the second half of the season, and came away with a 35-14 win on the road at Slocomb.
Opp got off to a fast start, scoring twice in the first quarter. Ashton Patel scored on the ground twice in the in the first quarter. The first score was from 19 yards and the second from 26. After one Opp led 14-0 and added one more score just before the half when Reggie Thompson hit Javontae Crittenden on a 29-yard pass for a 21-0 halftime lead.
After allowing two scores to Slocomb in the third quarter, the Bobcats regrouped in the fourth quarter with two more scores. Reggie Thompson scored from three yards out with 10 minutes left to put Opp ahead 28-14. The Bobcats capped off the game when Patel scored from 13 yards out with five minutes left for a 35-14 win.
Patel carried for 134 yards on 17 carries with three touchdowns to lead the Bobcats. Reggie Thompson ran for 126 yards on 10 carries and a score. Thompson also had 182 yards passing on 12 completions. Kevin Perreira led the Bobcat defense with 12 tackles and 3 sacks.
“It was a good region win and hope we continue to build on it. I felt like the defense stepped up in the first half, and the offense did in the second half” said Bobcat coach Brent Hill following the game. “It also nice to get some of injured players back and look forward to another region opponent next week.”
Opp hosts Providence Christian next Friday.
