Latest projection: Cat 2 storm, local flash flooding

Hurricane Nate is moving quickly across the Gulf, and is expected to be a Category 2 storm when it comes ashore late tonight or early Sunday, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest update.
Hurricane warnings stretch along the coast from Alabama to Louisiana, and tropical storm warnings extend far inland into central Alabama.
The 11 a.m. advisory shared by local EMA director Susan Harris, includes a flash flood warning for Covington County. The forecast shows only a moderate threat for tropical force winds in the county.
As of the last advisory, at 1 p.m. CDT Saturday, Hurricane Nate was located about 105 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River and was moving quickly north-northwest at 25 mph.
