The Covington County Board of Education recognized Straughn student Greyson Seay last week. Greyson, son of Heather and Greg Seay, was the 3rd grade county, area, and state winner of the Soil and Water Conservation District ‘s annual conservation poster contest. The 2017 poster theme was Healthy Soils are Full of Life!

His poster will be entered into the competition at the national level, and an over-all winner will be chosen and announced at the National Association of Conservation Districts’ meeting in Nashville, in January.

The conservation poster contest is annually sponsored by county Soil and Water Conservation Districts, the National Association of Conservation Districts, and the NACD Auxiliary.

Locally the program is delivered by SWCD’s Education Specialist, Suzi Mersmann, to 3rd grade students countywide.
