The Opp Bobcats (3-3, 3-1) are ready for their pivotal Class 3A, Region 2 contest in Opp on Friday night against  the Providence Christian Eagles (5-2, 3-1).

“This is another huge region game for us,” Opp head coach Brent Hill said. “They are team that is tied with us for second place, so it’s going to be big game.”

Providence Christian lost two or their first three games, but come into the game with a four-game win streak.

“Providence has done some really good things so far this year,” Hill said. “They are big up front and they have a lot of strong guys.”

Hill said that Providence Christian will lean heavily on its run game.

“They like to just run it right up the middle,” Hill said. “They are big up front and they like to push you out of the way for 3 or 4 yards at a time. They are going to try and use as much clock as they can when they have the ball.”

With Providence Christian milking the clock on offense, Hill said that it makes it that much more important for the Bobcats to capitalize when they have the ball.

“When know what they are going to do on offense,” Hill said. “With them eating the clock the way they do, our offense is going to have to take advantage of every opportunity that we get.”

Hill said that the Bobcats have a good week of practice in preparation of the crucial region match up.

“Yesterday (Tuesday), was a really good day,” Hill said. “We did the best we could inside on Monday with the way the weather was, but we got some things cleaned up that we needed. The hard work has been here all season, but I feel like the energy level at practice has gotten better.”

There were a few points that Hill said would be the keys to the game.

“The line of scrimmage and special teams play are going to be crucial,” Hill said. “Those are things a lot of people overlook, but it games like this it usually  comes to things in those areas.”

Opp is 1-0 against Providence Christian with a 43-22 win in 2016.
