TRUCKING TO THE PLAYOFFS: Bulldogs could lock up region title with a victory

The top-ranked Andalusia Bulldogs (6-1, 4-0) have locked up a playoff spot and could wrap up the region title with a victory tonight when they hit the road to take on the Satsuma Gators (2-4, 1-2).
“The biggest thing is making sure we don’t have a let down after a game like last week,” Andalusia head coach Trent Taylor said. “Satsuma is good team. They are probably the biggest team up front, on both sides of the ball, that we have faced all year. The score might not have looked like it, but they were one of if not the most physical team that we played last year.”
This is just the second time the two teams have met on the gridiron with the Bulldogs winning last year’s game 40-20.
Andalusia comes into the game with a six-game winning streak after falling the first week of the season to Class 6A Shades Valley.
After losing their first four games of the season, Satsuma has won their last two contests.
“This is a team that is riding a hot streak,” Taylor said of Satsuma. “They beat a good 5A Citronelle team and then got a big region win last week. They have a young man at quarterback that is tall and can sling the ball around the field. They don’t really run a lot of plays, but they use a lot of different looks and things that can give you nightmares on defense.”
Gators’ freshman quarterback Karson Green stepped up as the starter two weeks ago and has thrown for 327 yards with a touchdown on his way to leading Satsuma to their first two victories of the season.
The Bulldogs are led by senior quarterback Ethan Wilson who has thrown for 1,276 yards and 14 touchdowns.
A good chunk of Wilson’s yardage has gone to senior B.J. Anderson, who leads the Bulldogs with 603 yards receiving and eight touchdowns.
Junior running back Roosevelt Weaver leads the Bulldog rushing attack with 785 yards and nine touchdowns.
