Opp Police have obtained a subpoena for the results of the blood test administered to the driver in an accident in which a Toyota Prius came to rest on top of a carport.

Assistant Chief Kevin Chance said the department sought the subpoena to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crashed.

Opp Police and Opp Fire departments were called to the scene of an accident in the 1100 block on U.S. Highway 84 East in response to a vehicle crashing into a residence.

The incident occurred Monday evening around 9:50 p.m. The driver’s name has not been released.

The 2014 Toyota Prius was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 84 East when it crossed over the oncoming lane, leaving the roadway where the vehicle struck a culvert and rolled over before coming to rest on top of the carport of a resident’s 2001 Lincoln Town Car that was parked in the carport.

The operator of the Prius was transported to Mizell Memorial Hospital Emergency Room with injuries sustained from the crash.
