It was another strong showing for three Andalusia Isshinryu Karate students recently at the IIKA Youth Games in Crossville, Tenn.
Taj Patel had a big day with three first place finishes. Taj was first in black belt weapons, kata and fighting, and also won the 11-13-year-old Grand Championship.
Kila Owens’s trend of success continued with a first place finish in black belt kata. Owens finished second in weapons and fighting, and won the 14-17-year-old Grand Championship.
Owens, a senior at Straughn High School, recently signed a four-year scholarship to Bryant College Martial Arts Academy in Tennessee.
Dhilan Patel also brought home a trophy with a fourth place finish in yellow belt fighting.
These children are all students of Mark Rudd’s at Andalusia Isshinryu Karate located beside USA Gym.
