Blatz named 2018 Ms. LBWCC

LBW Community College’s 2018 Ms. LBWCC is Loni Blatz of Andalusia, daughter of Chris and Terri Blatz. She also won both the interview and talent portions of competition.

Blatz is an Honors Program freshman and LBWCC Ambassador, and serves as historian with the SGA. She is a 2017 graduate of Straughn High School.

She plans to transfer to Auburn University to pursue a degree in bio-medical sciences with the goal of becoming a surgeon.

She is involved in the local APPLE afterschool program, Music for Memories, and is founder of Priceless, a suicide awareness and mentoring outreach program.

For the talent portion of competition, she performed “Love on the Brain” by Rihanna, a contemporary piano and vocal piece.

Kaydra Strength of Highland Home, daughter of Misty Dean and Jake Strength, was named first-runner up. She is a sophomore pursuing an Associate in Science degree and plans to transfer and obtain a four-year degree in elementary education.

She is a LBWCC Ambassador and is active in the SGA. She is a 2016 graduate of Highland Home High School, and is active in the community by volunteering with little league cheerleaders and mentoring elementary school children.

For the talent portion of the competition, she performed a comical monologue about a woman with many talents.

Second-runner up is Emily Marie Pierce of Andalusia, daughter of Steve and Mary Lynn Edgar.

She is a sophomore science major and plans to attend Pensacola State College to pursue a dental hygiene licensure program. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honor society, and is a 2015 graduate of Andalusia High School.

She is involved in Meredith’s Miracles, Megan Kelley Smiles Foundation, and Miracle League.

For her talent, she performed an upbeat jazz dance to “Old Time Rock and Roll” by Bob Segar.

Tessa Worley of Andalusia, daughter of Sherry and Gary Worley, was named by the other contestants as “Miss Congeniality.”

She is a sophomore majoring in elementary and special education and plans to transfer to Troy University to continue her education. She is a 2016 graduate of Andalusia High School.

She serves as vice-president of SGA, and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta mathematics honor society, and Campus Citivan.

For the talent portion of competition, she performed a vocal presentation of “Piece by Piece” by Kelly Clarkson.
