The Andalusia High School Chapter of Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently held their annual Iron Bowl Canned Food Drive. During the week of Nov. 6-9, the students brought in non-perishable food items to donate to those less fortunate this holiday season.
When the students brought them to class, they had a choice of putting them in an Alabama or Auburn box. It was very competitive. A biscuit breakfast is the reward for the first block class with the most ounces of food.
In the end, Mrs. Causey’s first block was the winner with a total of 3,180.6 ounces. Alabama continues the winning streak with 4, 873,82 ounces. Altogether, the students at Andalusia High School raised 8, 174.62 ounces of food!
All items will be donated to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Rice and Beans food outreach. Some of the AHS FCCLA members will also volunteer their time on Sat., Nov.18th, at the monthly Rice and Beans and breakfast. The FCCLA members will help stock shelves, hand out canned goods and red beans and rice, and help serve breakfast to those in need.
