No. 1 Andalusia (12-1) advanced to the semi-finals of the Alabama High School playoffs with its 45-13 win over Alabama Christian last night, earning the right to host UMS-Wright next Friday.
It’ll be a rematch of the September regular-season game, when then-No.4 Andalusia knocked off then-No.1 UMS-Wright in a 27-21 overtime thriller. It was the first time in school history Andalusia defeated UMS-Wright on the gridiron.
UMS-Wright (11-2) defeated Bibb County 31-7 last night.
Here’s a wrap-up of Class 4A quarter-final scores:
UMS-Wright 31, Bibb Co. 7
Andalusia 45, Alabama Chr. 13
Fayette Co. 34, Hokes Bluff 27
Saks 42, Cherokee Co. 14
In addition to the Andalusia – UMS-Wright rematch next week, Saks (13-0) will play at Fayette County (11-2). The winners of those two games will meet in Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa the following week.
