Sex offender arrested for violation of terms

A convicted sex offender was captured in Covington County after Escambia County authorities found he was not living at the residence he claimed.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation at the end of last month into a sex offender identified as Jamey Lavon Mothershed, 38, after they were unable to locate him at a Dixie School House Road. He had since moved to Covington County.
Mothershed was convicted August 2001 for lewd and lascivious battery of a victim over 12 years old but less than 16 years old in Okaloosa County.
Mothershed was a registered sex offender in Escambia County, Ala.
Deputies conducted a routine compliance check and discovered Mothershed was not living at his approved residence.
A warrant was issued for his arrest.
He was arrested and booked into the Escambia County Detention Center on a SORNA violation.
He was held on a $25,000 bond.
