Two weeks ago the Pleasant Home routed Opp, 69-35, on their home floor and the two teams met in the opening round of the Andalusia High School Christmas Tournament with the Bobcats looking for some revenge.

Brady Sowards and Robert Scott hit three pointers early in the game to keep Pleasant Home ahead of Opp in the opening quarter. Reggie Thompson paced the Bobcats with seven points as Opp trailed by just three after the first quarter, 15-12.

Tyler Myrick had six points in the second as the Eagles maintained their lead. Scott hit another three and had five points in the quarter. For Opp it was Ethan Baker hitting a key three pointer and Thompson hitting two threes in the final minute of the quarter that allowed the Bobcats to cut Pleasant Home’s lead to five at the half, 31-26.

Thompson continued to light up the scoreboard in the third quarter. The Bobcat senior scored eight points in the quarter, including his fourth three-pointer.

Opp outscored Pleasant Home 14-7 in the third and held a four-point lead after three, 42-38. Pleasant Home regained the lead in the fourth after a three-point play by Enrico Bovino.

Opp continued to play and eventually retook the lead after two baskets by Caleb Hinton.

Free throws were key for Opp down the stretch as Pleasant Home fouled the Bobcats, sending them to the line. Opp was only up by one 52-51, but made four free throws in a row to end the game victorious, 56-51.

The Bobcats made eight of nine from the foul line in the fourth quarter and were 12 of 17 in the game. Reggie Thompson led the way with 25 points for Opp, and Caleb Hinton had 10. For the Eagles, Tyler Myrick and Robert Scott had 12 points each.

Opp will play Andalusia in the next round, while Pleasant Home faces Red Level.
