ANDY CONTINUES TO ROLL: Bulldogs open 2018 with big win over Samson

The No. 8-ranked Andalusia Bulldogs improved to 12-1 on the season with a 78-31 victory over Samson on Tuesday afternoon in Andalusia.

In the first period, the Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders with strong starts from their starting five.

R.J. Drish was clicking as he knocked down a 3-pointer and paced the Bulldogs in the opening period with seven points.

B.J. Anderson and Keaun Samuel each had six points in the first period for the Bulldogs.

Andalusia’s Ethan Wilson converted an and-1 opportunity and finished the opening period with five points to help the Bulldogs take a 26-6 lead heading in the second period.

Drish remained hot in the second period as he knocked down another 3-pointer and paced the Bulldogs with nine points in the period.

Trey Wilkerson tacked on six points to help Andalusia take a 45-16 lead into halftime.

With the lead comfortably in hand, the Bulldog scoring attack slowed, but Drish and Undre Johnson each had four points in the third period to give the Bulldogs a 55-22 lead heading into the fourth and final period.

Johnson knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the final frame to pace the Bulldogs.

Caleb Williams knocked down a 3-pointer and finished the period with five points.

Louis Reyes and Patrick McCorvey had four points each in the final period to help the Bulldogs pick up a 78-31 victory.

Drish led the Bulldogs with 22 points in the win.

Johnson finished the night with 10 points.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday night at home when they take on No. 5 Escambia County in the first area matchup of the season.

The Bulldogs’ only loss this season came at the hands of Class 7A’s No. 3-ranked Hoover Bucs.
