Personnel available to speak on wide-ranging topics

Speakers on a variety of newly-established topics are now available for groups and civic clubs through LBW Community College’s Speakers Bureau.

“The speakers bureau provides a great opportunity for our faculty and staff to connect with those in our community,” said LBWCC President Dr. Herb Riedel. “There is a wide assortment of topics on which college personnel have volunteered to share their expertise, enthusiasm, and experience with others.”

The information can be found on the College’s website at www.lbwcc.edu, said Renée LeMaire, public information officer and director of marketing.

“Once logged into the website, simply click on the ‘About LBWCC’ button at the top of the screen and you will see the ‘Speakers Bureau’ button in the roll-out,” she said.

“There is information there on how to contact the presenter of the selected topic to ensure direct communication on the needs of the group, what the speaker can provide, and the logistics of the meeting date and place.”

LeMaire urges those seeking a speaker to remember that faculty may be in class or staff may be in a meeting at the time a call is made, so be sure to leave a message on the potential speaker’s office telephone or send an email to the address provided.

“All the individuals listed are volunteering their time and effort and will need to make sure your request can fit with their schedule, which is another reason direct communication is needed,” said LeMaire.

There are such topics as “Self-Defense,” “Feral Pigs: Their Environmental Impacts, Sign, Edibility, and Hunting Techniques,” “Health and Beauty Secrets,” “Leadership Development,” “Preparing Job Search Documents,” and “When Both Ends of the Candle Burn Out,” among others, she said.

Every effort is made to keep topics current, she added.

“We will continue adding new topics as identified by volunteers, and deleting those which become outdated,” she said.
