WALTER (GENE) JACKSON

Mr. Walter E. (Gene) Jackson, 70, of Andalusia, passed away on Tues., Jan. 9, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Fri., Jan. 12th from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Steve DeFee and Brother Glen Vaughn officiating. The interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was. on Thursday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Jackson of Andalusia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Mandy White, Gene and Lori Jackson of Andalusia; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Kevin Eppinette of Eldorado, Ark; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Brenda Jackson; three sisters, Pauline White, Faye Stevens, and Geneva McQuillian, all of Arkansas

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Woodrow Jackson and Myrtle Inez Brown Jackson; and his son, Paul.

ELOISE SCHOFIELD HENDERSON

Ms. Eloise Schofield Henderson, age 84, of Andalusia, passed away on Wed., Jan. 10, 2018, at Andalusia Manor.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 13, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Beulah Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frankie and Tambry Henderson of Andalusia; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and John Collier and Angie and Eddie Cofield, all of Andalusia; grandchildren, Brad Collier, Candi Tait, Mandy Precise, Melanie Parker, Jay Henderson, Heath Henderson, and Kelly Stinson; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Billy Schofield of Opp, Donnie Schofield of Montgomery, and Tom Schofield of Gantt; sisters, Chris Prescott of Tallahassee, Fla., Bettye Strickland of Tallahassee, Fla., Sue Williams of Opp, and Sylvia Rasey of Auburn; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Avant of Opp.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Schofield.

CHARLES ROWELL LOWMAN

Mr. Charles Rowell Lowman, age 94, of the Good Hope Road near the Searight community, passed away on Wed., Jan. 10, 2018, at Andalusia Manor. He was born in Andalusia, April 25, 1923, the son of the late Benjamin Edmond Lowman and Agnes Sturgis Lowman.

He was one of the first students graduating in May of 1940 from the present Andalusia High School. After high school and at the beginning of World War II, he took several defense training courses studying radio and radar technology. He was drafted in early 1943 and served as an airborne radar technician in the Pacific Theatre on a converted Liberty ship equipped with shops to service B-29 aircraft.

A week after being discharged from service, he started school at the University of Alabama later transferring to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) where he graduated with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering. He was employed by Alabama Electric Cooperative (now Power South Energy Cooperative) from 1950 until his retirement in 1988. During this time he worked in numerous engineering and management positions retiring as executive vice president and general manager. The AEC Board of Trustees honored him upon his retirement by renaming the Tombigbee Power Plant the “Charles R. Lowman Power Plant.”

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Effie Adams Lowman; daughters and sons-in-law, Nora and Lloyd Culp of Dozier and Ruth and Lance Nail of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Lauren (Jose) Gonzalez, Landon Nail, and Joel Nail; great-grandson, Damien Gonzalez; nieces and nephews, Marcia (Jack) Reichert, Max (Sandra) Mathews, Byron B. Mathews, Jr.; and special family members, Patsy Shreve and Charles Farrow.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sun., Jan. 14, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
