EAGLES HOLD NOTHING BACK: Pleasant Home sweeps Florala on the hardwood

The Pleasant Home Eagles brought their “A” game as they swept the Florala Wildcats on Friday night in area basketball action in Pleasant Home.

GIRLS

PLEASANT HOME 56, FLORALA 16

In the opening varsity game, the Lady Eagles surged out front and cruised to a 56-16 victory.

The Lady Eagles opened the game on a mission and built a 16-3 lead at the end of the first period.

Pleasant Home continued to pour it on in the second period and went up 27-3 at halftime.

The Lady Eagles never let up as they came away with a 56-16 victory.

River Baldwin led the Lady Eagles with 22 points in the win.

Morgan Jackson finished the night with eight points for the Lady Wildcats.

BOYS

PLEASANT HOME 48, FLORALA 37

In the final game of the evening, the Eagles used a strong second half to knock off the Wildcats 48-37.

Pleasant Home got the first bucket of the game, but then a 3-pointer and layup from Rashaad Coleman gave the Wildcats a 5-2 lead.

The Wildcats would hold on to that lead until the halfway point of the third period.

Heading in to the third period, the Wildcats were on top 22-18.

The Eagles tied the game 27-27 on a bucket from Austin Kelley.

Pleasant Home took the lead for good with 2:30 left in the third on a layup from Tyler Myrick.

The Eagles surged in the final period to pull out a 48-37 victory.

“I thought the guys were able to keep their heads tonight and stayed under control,” Pleasant Home head coach Troy Turman said. “We said that if we stayed with the game plan that good things would happen, and they did. Credit Florala because there is no doubt they are a good team. This was a good team and when we play our brand of basketball good things will happen. I’m very proud of the guys tonight.”

Myrick led the Eagles with 17 points in the win.

Robert Scott tacked on nine points for the Eagles.

Coleman led the Wildcats with 13 points and Jacob Hammac added eight points.
