Trojans sweep Bulldogs

The Charles Henderson Trojans used solid shooting to sweep the Andalusia Bulldogs in Monday night’s varsity basketball action in Andalusia.

GIRLS

TROY 54,

ANDALUSIA 10

In the opening varsity match, the Lady Trojans quickly built a large lead and cruised past the Lady Bulldogs for a 54-10 victory.

The Lady Trojans went up 6-0 early in the first, but the Lady Bulldogs got back-to-back buckets from Samone Reed and Katie Black to cut the lead down to 6-4.

The Lady Trojans then went on a 39-0 run to blow the game wide open.

Reed led the Lady Bulldogs with six points.

BOYS

TROY 65,

ANDALUSIA 60

In the final game of the evening, the Bulldogs had the lead for most of the game, but a flurry of 3-pointers in the second half lifted the Trojans to a 65-60 victory.

R.J. Drish got a pair of assists to B.J. Anderson and Ethan Wilson to open up the contest with a 4-0 Bulldog lead.

Andalusia held a 13-12 lead at the end of the first period.

The Trojans tied the game late in the second period and then a last-second basket from Keaun Samuel gave the Bulldogs a 29-27 lead going into halftime.

In the third period, the Bulldogs went up by as much as 12 points before consecutive 3-pointers from the Trojans shrunk the Andalusia lead down the three points.

Going into the final period, Andalusia was up 46-41.

Andalusia continued to fight, but the Trojans’ free throw shooting and 3-pointers gave Charles Henderson a 65-60 victory.

Anderson led the Bulldogs with 18 points.
