Wildcats split with Cottonwood

The Florala Wildcats split varsity basketball games with Cottonwood on Tuesday night in Florala.

BOYS

FLORALA 60,

COTTONWOOD 25

In the final game of the evening, the Wildcats pulled off a big 60-25 victory over Cottonwood.

Both teams struggled to find points in the opening frame with game tied 6-6 going into the second period.

Jacob Hammac and Caleb Wood each had 3-pointers for the Wildcats in the first period.

Cottonwood’s offensive woes grew in the second period as they managed just one bucket.

Florala was led in the second period by Logan West with four points.

Wood tacked on three more points for the Wildcats.

Anthone’ Stone and Mekhi James each had two points in the second period.

Heading into halftime, the Wildcats were on top 19-8.

The Wildcats found their rhythm in the third period as they poured on the points to go on top 44-18 heading into the final period.

Rashaad Coleman was money at the free-throw line as he went 6-for-6 and finished the period with 11 points.

James and West pitched in six points each in the third period for the Wildcats.

Bubba Moxey came on strong in the final period and his eight points helped give the Wildcats a 60-25 victory.

Zacchaeus Reese and Coleman each had two points in the final period.

Coleman led the Wildcats in scoring with 13 points.

West finished the game with 11 points.

James and Moxey each finished the night with eight points.

GIRLS

COTTONWOOD 46, FLORALA 28

The Lady Wildcats put up a solid effort, but went down 46-28 to Cottonwood.

Florala started strong with buckets from Meredith and Makayla Parker, but Cottonwood was up 7-5 at the end of the first.

Cottonwood opened up in the second half and pulled away for the win.

Ma. Parker led the Lady Wildcats with eight points.
