Andalusia standout athlete Ethan Wilson made his commitment to the University of South Alabama official on Wednesday when he signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Jaguars.

“It’s a really great feeling,” Wilson said of signing his NLI. “It has been a long process, but it’s been fun and I’ve enjoyed every minute.”

A three-sport star, Wilson chose to stick with just baseball at the college level.

“Baseball has always been my No. 1 passion,” Wilson said. “I really like the program at South. They had a good year last year, and when I visited the campus I just fell in love.”

The idea of getting early playing time was a big selling point for Wilson.

“I don’t like to sit on the bench,” Wilson said. “The coaches there told me that I would have a chance to come in and make an impact as a freshman.”

Wilson said he is excited about his college choice.

“I’m most looking forward to building new friendships,” Wilson said. “The bond that sports create is unexplainable and that’s probably what I’m most excited about.”
