Qualifying ends this afternoon
The deadline for qualifying to seek office in the 2018 primaries is 5 p.m. today, Fri., Feb. 9.
To do date, the only county race in which there is opposition is the sheriff’s race, where incumbent Dennis Meeks will face challengers Nickey Carnley and Blake Turman for the Republican nod.
At the regional level, U.S. Rep. Martha Roby has challengers for the Republican nomination, including former U.S. Rep. Bobby Bright, who entered the race on Thursday. Others seeking the Republican nomination are Rich Hobson, Barry Moore and Tommy Amason.
On the Democratic side, Tabitha Isner and Audri Scott Williams are seeking the nomination.
