The Andalusia Board of Education executed a memorandum of understanding with the Public Education Building Authority (PEBA) for the use of funds raised toward a more than $12 million project at Andalusia High School.

According to the agreement, PEBA has secured $585,000 in cash and $300,00 in pledges. Under the terms of the agreement PEBA will transfer $400,000 to the board for the building project.

PEBA will reserve $100,000 with which to pay for a bronze Bulldog to be placed in the plaza of the stadium, and other signage recognizing contributions. Upon the completion of payments for the signage, the balance of the funds raised will be transferred to the board of education.

For its part, the board of education agreed to make its documentation of spending of monies raised by the authority available for review.

In related business, the board agreed to let bids for several parts of the project not included in the base contract, including dirt and concrete work for the football field, which is being moved; artificial turf; lights; and visitors’ bleachers.
