Lady Bulldogs use big inning to knock off Straughn

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs opened up the 2018 season with a big 13-6 victory on the road against the Straughn Lady Tigers.
Andalusia got on the board in the opening frame when Zariah Jones drove in Sydney Ray on a hard-hit ground ball.
The Lady Tigers answered back in the bottom of the first inning when Ellie Guilford came around to score on an error.
Dallas Mackoff struck out the first Lady Bulldog batter in the top of the second inning and kept the score 1-1 heading into the home half.
Lady Bulldogs’ starting pitcher Sydney Arnett went to work in the bottom of the second inning and struck out three batters.
The score remained tied until the bottom of the third inning when the Lady Tigers took the lead.
Mackoff picked up a one-out single and the moved to second on a bunt single from Colby Adams.
The Lady Tigers then got three-straight hits to go up 4-1.
In the top of the fourth, Ray reached on a walk and then Alaina Nettles belted a home run to cut the Lady Tigers’ lead to 4-3.
The Lady Bulldogs then tied the game on a double by Amerson.
Millie Manring followed with a single to put the Lady Bulldogs on top 5-4.
Caroline Wood crossed the plate for Straughn in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.
The Lady Bulldogs took the lead for good when Chloe Mikel drove in two runs in to top of the fifth inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Lady Bulldogs opened up the flood gates.
Reagan Clarke ripped a two-run double to center that put the Lady Bulldogs up 9-5.
A few batters later, Morgan Bledsoe sent a line-drive single to left field that allowed two more Lady Bulldogs to come around to score.
The Lady Bulldogs capped off their scoring with a two-run single from Arnett.
Straughn didn’t give up and picked up a run in the bottom of the seventh.
The Lady Bulldogs held off Straughn for a 13-6 win.
