“People who enjoy bluegrass or country music recognize the name of Ricky Skaggs,” said Foundation President Kim Carter. “This event is for the whole family and will be held at the Kiwanis Center Fairgrounds in Andalusia. Be sure to bring your chair and enjoy an evening with one of the best entertainers in the country.”

Skaggs racked up numerous music awards during his 40-plus year career, including 15 Grammy Awards, eight from the Country Music Association, nine from the Academy of Country Music, 11 International Bluegrass Music Association awards, nine from Inspirational Country Music Association, and two Dove Awards.

Twelve of his singles hit number one on the Billboard Country charts, and he’s had 12 Top 20 Country albums. In 2012, he was inducted into the GMA’s Gospel Music Hall of Fame and received the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award from the Academy of Country Music.

The Kentucky Thunder Band is an all-star lineup that includes Paul Brewster as tenor vocals on rhythm guitar, Russ Carson on banjo, Jake Workman on lead guitar, Mike Barnett on fiddle, Dennis Parker as baritone vocals on guitar, and Jeff Picker on bass guitar.

“This group of guys meets my approval every night,” Skaggs said. “Each and every one of the pickers in Kentucky Thunder totally amazes me in every show…and that, to me, outweighs any award we could ever win.”

Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder take the stage at 6 p.m. on April 21 at the Kiwanis Center Fairgrounds in Andalusia. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. with local performers.

Tickets are $25 in advance online at www.lbwcc.edu, $35 at the gate, and $75 preferred seating. Tickets are available in Andalusia at LBW Community College, Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce, CCB Community Bank, and Harold’s Furniture and Flooring. In Greenville, tickets are available at Brian Moss State Farm.

General admission ticket holders should bring a lawn chair for the outdoor performance. In case of rain, the event will move inside.
