AHS STARTS YEAR STRONG: Lady Bulldogs hammer past Dale County

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs (3-3) grabbed an early lead and held off Dale County for a 9-6 victory on Monday night in Dale County.
Mary Katherine Salter got the Lady Bulldogs rolling when she launched a double to start the top of the first inning.
Olivia Amerson followed with a line-drive single to center that moved Salter around to third.
The Lady Bulldogs then loaded the bases when Raygen Clarke reached on infield single.
Alana Nettles put the Bulldogs on top with a one-out single to left field that allowed Salter to score with ease.
In the bottom of the first inning, Sydney Arnett stuck out the first batter she faced and then sat the next two down via a pop out and a groundout.
Andalusia added to their lead in the top of the second inning when Amerson drove in Zariah Jones with a single to left field.
Millie Manring followed with a single to give the Lady Bulldogs runners on first and second base.
Clarke then came through with her second hit of the game and drove in two runs with a double to put Andalusia on top 4-0.
After Nettles singled for the second time in the game, Chloe Mikel ripped a double to that pushed Clarke around to score.
The Lady Bulldogs continued to roll as Arnett drove in Nettles to put the Lady Bulldogs up 6-0.
In the pitcher’s circle, Arnett was dealing as she struck out the first two batters in the bottom of the second inning and then got the next batter to ground out to end the inning.
The Lady Bulldogs got singles from Clarke and Nettles in top of the fourth inning and took advantage of three Dale County errors to take a 7-0 lead.
Dale County took advantage of a Lady Bulldog error in the bottom of the fourth inning to help them score their first run of the game.
Dale County added a second run in the bottom of the sixth inning off four hits.
Salter started the top of the seventh inning with a single and then came around to score on a single from Manring.
Clarke then collected her fifth hit of the day and drove in a run to put the Lady Bulldogs up 9-2.
Dale County made a comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Lady Bulldogs were able to hold them off for a 9-6 win.
Clarke led the way for the Lady Bulldogs at the plate going 5-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Arnett picked up the complete-game win and struck out eight batters in the process.
The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday when they host Goshen at 4:30 p.m., at Andalusia High School.
