The Covington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an early evening shooting that occurred on Falco Road near Pleasant Home Friday.

The victim was able to drive away from the scene and was air lifted to a Florida hospital from Pleasant Home School. The incident was not school related. Even was the airlift and investigation were under way near the stadium, the PHS prom continued in the gym, seemingly undisturbed.

A witness who described herself as the girlfriend of the victim told deputies that the couple had stopped for directions when he was shot. They were attempting to find a rural address where they were to purchase a camper listed on Craigslist.

When The Star-News went to press last night, Sheriff Dennis Meeks said his department was still working the case.
