The Andalusia High School Bulldogs were able to capitalize on mistakes in the second half to pull out a 3-1 area win against the Satsuma Gators on Tuesday night in Andalusia.
In the beginning of the first half, the two teams seemed to be equal, but the Bulldogs pushed hard and kept the chances on goal coming.
Gage Theus had a couple of shots in the first half, but none of them found the back of the net.
Two more chances came from corner kicks, but the Bulldogs could not finish them.
Going into the second half, the Gators seemed to push a little harder and were able to put a shot on goal but it went wide left.
The Bulldogs were able to go on a counter attack. AHS put a ball over the top for KiKi Wain to run through and he was able to slide it past the goalkeeper and put the Bulldogs up 1-0.
Another mistake from the Gators led to Wain running through and putting another one in the net to make it 2-0 in the middle of the second half.
The Gators kept pushing on and were able to take advantage of a foul in the penalty box that led to a goal to make it 2-1.
At the end of the half, the Bulldogs were able to capitalize on a throw-in that led Wain to a one-on-one situation with the Gator’s goalkeeper and he pushed another goal through to earn a hat-trick for the night making it 3-1.
“We had a lot of opportunities,” Head coach of the Bulldogs Jarrett Williamson said. “Overall we have a young team, so I see a lot of potential in them. I am really proud of how they were able to get that last goal, it shows a lot of maturity.”
The J.V. team also played and came out with a 1-1 tie, with Alex Barnes scoring a penalty kick.
The Bulldogs will play again at 6 p.m., on Thursday in area play against Citronelle High School at the Kiwanis Center.
With the win the Bulldogs move to 6-4-1 on the season and 2-0 in area play.
