Organizers of local events planned this weekend are optimistic about their plans, but are keeping an eye on the weather forecast, which calls for rain.
Saturday’s events include the Andalusia Junior Women’s Club Three Notch Market, the City of Andalusia Little League’s opening day, and the Gantt Mafia Wounded Warrior ride.
“As of right now the market will go as planned. We have put too much into this already,” Aubrey McKee, the director of the Three Notch Market, said.
The AJWC added two new events to their Three Notch Market schedule this year, a pageant and a talent competition. The event, which will be held at Springdale, is set for 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
“We are still looking for people to enter the pageant,” McKee said. “And we are also looking for local talent for the competition as well.”

The City of Andalusia Little League Baseball opening day is Saturday.
“We are going to play it by ear for sure,” Courtney Lipford, the city athletic director, said. “We may not make it up and just plan to go on with the season, but I don’t know for sure yet.”
Organizers of the Gantt Mafia Wounded Warrior Ride are not as worried as these other events may be.
“It may affect some motorcycles during the ride itself,” Secretary and Treasurer of Gantt Mafia John Zorn said. “But Cypress Landing has a new enclosed pavilion so we aren’t worried about the other events we will be doing that day.”
The pavilion, or “the barn” as Zorn called it, is equipped with men and women’s bathrooms, a kitchen and a stage for the band.
“Some of the riders will be hardcore and ride through the rain,” Zorn said. “But it may affect the number of riders.”
The Andalusia Police Department also has an event planned. Members of the department will wash cars as a fundraiser for Relay for Life, and also has community safety initiatives planned. The event will be held on Opp Avenue.
