The National Weather Service is predicting severe storms for Covington County and most of South Alabama Saturday.

There is an enhanced chance for severe storms and flooding, from late Saturday morning through Saturday evening.

The NWS in Mobile said, environmental conditions are looking most favorable for damaging winds (60 mph or greater), but a brief tornado or two will also be possible. Timing of the severe threat remains uncertain.

Heavy rainfall will also be possible as the squall line slowly makes its way across the region, the NWS said.

There is a chance for flooding in some parts of the region, but current predictions show the heaviest rains west of Andalusia.
