WILLIAM FRANKLIN “WORMY”

William Franklin “Wormy” Missildine passed away peacefully Fri., April 27, surrounded by his family. He was born July 29, 1947, to Robert Missildine Sr. and Lillie Ree Nowlin in Opp. At age 17 he met the love of his life, Dorothy Sawyer, in Andalusia and married her while home on leave from the U.S. Army shortly afterward.

Uncle Sam, and the last year at Andalusia Manor were the only things that kept him away from her for more than one night in 53 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his son Ted and wife Carol of Seagrove, Fla.; his daughter, Jennifer of Andalusia; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by two brothers, dozens of nieces and nephews, and an extended family of those people that called him poppy, granddaddy, uncle or just Wormy. Always happy and joking, he was that way until the end. He always said “When you have a bad day, you share it with everybody. Why not share it when you have a good day!”

A memorial service will be held Sun., May 20, at 3 p.m. at Blue Springs Cemetery, Opp.
