The identities of two men found dead in Butler County near the Covington County line Saturday have not been released.
But Butler County officials confirmed this week that a 2018 Nissan Altima found burning Saturday afternoon belonged to one of the victims.
A Georgiana police officer noticed smoke near the Interstate 65 exit, and found a car on fire on Tram Road just off Alabama Hwy. 106. The Georgiana Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden said after investigating the homicide scene, his department determined the car belonged to one of the homicide victims. The men were found near Garland on Dilly Hill Road.
The men’s bodies were sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
