The Covington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a person whose body was found at a residence on Brooklyn Road.

Deputies responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle on Brooklyn Road at 3:45 a.m. A car had been burned and was smoking at a residence. As they checked the burning vehicle, the found a body nearby, according to a release from the Covington County Drug Task Force.

The identity of the victim has not been disclosed. The sheriff’s department, Alabama State Fire Marshall and the district attorney’s office are investigating.
