Baldwin, Wilson among state’s top athletes

Members of AL.com high school sports staff recently voted on the top 100 high school athletes in the state, and Pleasant Home’s River Baldwin and Andalusia’s Ethan Wilson were among those recognized on the list.

Baldwin was the No. 4 player in the state and Wilson was voted as the No. 2 player in the state.

Baldwin was a repeat Class 1A Player of the Year in basketball and was also chosen as one of the top volleyball players in Class 1A.

River Baldwin will represent the South All-Stars.

She also won the Class 1A shot put and finished third in discus.

Wilson helped Andalusia win their first ever baseball state championship this year. He was named Class 4A Player and Hitter of the Year. He also helped lead the Bulldogs to semifinals in football and basketball this season.

Ethan Wilson earned top honors in Class 4A.

Oxford’s Clay Webb was the No. 1 vote getter after capturing the Class 6A 285-pound wrestling title. He was a 6A Lineman of the Year finalist and enters 2018 as the state’s top recruit.
