After splitting two games on Friday, the Covington County 12U All-tar softball team placed a beating on Lineville, Saturday morning, 16-5, and then had to turn around and play Roanoke three times before eventually losing by one run in the final.
In the first game against Roanoke, the Covington County All-stars were able to win 13-7, with Paris, Kennedy, Jade and Kennedy scoring two runs each.
In the second game against Roanoke, the Covington County All-stars were not able to keep up with Roanoke as they lost 11-14.
If Covington County would have won game two against Roanoke, they would have walked away with the tournament trophy, but Roanoke had stayed strong and took it to the final game.
In the third game, Roanoke was barely able to scrape by as they only won by one run, 12-11.
“Even though it didn’t end as we had hoped, I couldn’t be prouder of each one of these girls and all of the hard work they put into this,” Assistant Coach Allison Youngblood said. “They are an extremely talented group who showed determination, class, and sportsmanship all the way to the end.”
