The Covington County Distinguished Young Woman program will present “The Greatest Show: 2019 Covington County DYW” on Sat., July 14.

The county’s scholarship program is a preliminary for Alabama’s Distinguished Young Woman program. Locally, young women will compete for $10,000 in cash scholarships. The winner  will receive $4,000, first runner-up will receive $3,000, second first runner-up will receive $2,000, and third first runner-up will receive $1,000. Director Cathy Powell said the scholarship amounts were increased this year.

The participants are all rising seniors at their respective high schools. A second group of rising juniors will participate as “Little Sisters,” and an even younger group will participate and perform as “Distinguished Darlings.”

DYW participants are judged on interview, scholastics, talent, self expression and fitness.

The talent program will be presented at 2 p.m., and the main show is set for 7 p.m.

Reserved seating is $35 for both shows. General admission for both shows is $25, and general admission for one show is $15.
