Seven people participated in the First Annual Fourth of July Karaoke Contest at Lake Frank Jackson and organizer Pam Potter said that she thought it went very well for the first attempt.

“We are hoping to do it again next year because of the great turnout,” Potter said. “We had amazing talent.”

Potter said judges narrowed it down to the top three contestants, Daniel Mock, Liz Ann Jackson and the winner, Michelle Norris.

“The judges based their scores on stage presence, song choice and vocals,” Potter said. “Michelle didn’t expect to win at all so she was super excited when we called her name.”

With the win, Norris received $200 and a chance to sing at the Rattlesnake Rodeo.
