Thursday’s last day to request absentee ballot

Today, Thursday, July 12, 2018, is the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot for next Tuesday’s runoff election. The application must be received by the close of business.

The deadline to return the absentee ballot once received is by the close of business, Monday, July 16, 2018. If a voter is submitting a ballot by mail it must be postmarked no later than Monday, July 16, 2018. If a voter is returning an absentee ballot in person it must be hand delivered no later than July 16, 2018 at the close of business.

The Statewide Primary Runoff Election is set for Tuesday, July 17, 2018.

In Covington County, there is only a Republican runoff.

For sheriff: Dennis Meeks and Blake Turman.

For Congress: Bobby Bright and Martha Roby

For lieutenant governor: Will Ainsworth and Twinkle Cavanaugh

For attorney general: Troy King and Steve Marshall

For associate justice of Supreme Court, place 1: Brad Mendeim and Sarah Hicks Stewart

For Court of Civil Appeals, place 1: Christy Edwards and Michelle Thomason.

For Court of Criminal Appeals, place 2: Rich Anderson and Chris McCool

For commissioner of ag and industries: Gerald Dial and Rick Pate
