PLAYING AGAINST THE BEST: County All-Stars set to host Southwest Regional

The Covington County 13-15 Babe Ruth All-Stars will face stiff competion next week when they host the 2018 Babe Ruth Southwest Region Tournament at Straughn High School.
On July 19, teams from Alabama, Arkansas, Lousiana and Texas will descend to Covington County for the Southwest Regional Tournament.
The teams will by vying for a spot in the 2018 Babe Ruth World Series.
On the first night, there won’t be any games played, but the teams get the chance to meet each other at the Opening Ceremony Banquet.
Games get started on Fri., July 20 at Straughn High School.
The first game (game No. 2 on the bracket) of the tournament pits Patterson, La., against Crossett, Ark., at 10 a.m., on July 20.
The winner of that game will play the winner of game three on Sunday at 9 a.m.
The loser of that game will play the loser between Covington County and Sumeral at noon on Saturday in game No. 6.
Game two (No. 3 on the bracket) will feature Sylacauga and SBC, Tex, at 1 p.m.
The loser of that game will play the winner of game No. 6 on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The third game (No. 4 on the bracket) of the day will match up Tallasee and Ft. Smith, Ark., at 4 p.m.
The loser of that game will play the loser of game No. 5 at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The winner will play the winner of game No. 5 at noon on Sunday.
The final game (No. 1) of the day will be between Covington County and Sumeral.
Game No. 1 winner will go up against Denver City, Tex., at 9 a.m., on Saturday.
The loser will play the loser of game No. 2 at noon on Saturday.
There will be three games played on Monday July 23 (1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.)
The championship game will be played on Tuesday, but a time hasn’t been set for that game.
