Neither the City of Andalusia nor the City of Opp will have to hold a scheduled municipal election this summer.

The elections, to choose three representatives on the Andalusia Board of Education and three on the Opp Board of Education, became unnecessary after none of the candidates who qualified drew a challenger.

In Andalusia, Dr. David McCalman, David Bryant and Sammy Glover qualified to seek the three open seats. Glover is a previous board member but does not currently serve. He decided to seek the office after Walter Wytch decided not to seek reelection.

In Opp, incumbents Walter Burgess, and William Hines both qualified to seek office. Current board member Scotty Short did not qualify, but Katie Wyatt Fuller qualified in that district.

The city councils in each municipality will certify those who did qualify duly elected board members.
