THRA (BRANNON) HICKS

The world’s greatest mom, mawmaw and biscuit maker, Mrs. Thra (Brannon) Hicks, passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Niceville, Fla., on Aug. 5, 2018, at the age of 93.

Mrs. Hicks, a resident of Niceville since 1945, was born in 1924 in Hickory Nut Ridge, Ala., and lived for many years in Sanford, Ala., where she attended Straughn School. She married her high school sweetheart, J. B Hicks, in 1945 after his return from service during WWII and supported him throughout his Air Force career including extended tours in Korea and Vietnam. Thra was an accomplished painter, seamstress, quilter, and Southern cook.

Thra is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, J.B. Hicks, as well as her parents, Charles and Lelia Brannon, and brother, Berman Brannon.

Left to celebrate her life are her son Larry Hicks and daughter-in-law Deborah Hicks; daughter Margaret Sutsko; daughter Ginger Maggiore and son-in-law Bob Maggiore; beloved grandchildren Alexander and Alison Sutkso, Daniel and Kerry Sutsko, Ceara Maggiore, Jake Maggiore, and Luke Maggiore; and four great-grandchildren, Brannon, Micaela, Harrison and Brooks, her big brother, LaFelt Brannon; little sister, Faye Floyd; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are planned for Thu., Aug., 9, at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home in Niceville, Fla. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the service will begin at noon.

BOBBY EARL EDGAR

Mr. Bobby Earl Edgar, 68, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., Aug. 4, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Wed., Aug. 8, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Weed Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his daughters, Tanya Alexander of Andalusia, Bobbie Jo Layton of Elba; five sons, Bobby Wayne Edgar of Andalusia, Frankie Edgar of Opp, Scotty Edgar of Montgomery, Josh Edgar of Paxton, and Chris Edgar of Florala; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Chuck Faulkner of Andalusia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl W. Edgar and Ernestine Legg.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Faulkner, Mike Rowell, Tommy Horton, Tanya Alexander, Tyler Rushing, and Zane Robertson.

DANNY HAROLD FUQUA

Mr. Danny Harold Fuqua, 66, of Andalusia, passed away Mon., Aug., 6, 2018, in Andalusia Manor.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thu., Aug. 9, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Keith Parker and Bother Gary Martin officiating. The interment will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., today, Wednesday, at Foreman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Brad Lowery of Orlando, Fla., Natalie and Brent Hinds, Allison and Michael Paul Youngblood of Andalusia; seven grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Margaret and Charlie Smithwick of Andalusia; his step-mother, Brenda Fuqua of Andalusia; two sisters and brother-in-law, Jackie Fuqua of Andalusia and Janet and Tim Cooper of Andalusia; and his stepsister and brother-in-law, Marlee and Bryan Bass.

He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Fuqua.

Pallbearers will be Ian Cooper, Todd Bass, Scotty Bass, Michael Paul Youngblood, Brent Hinds, and Jimmy Riley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Martin and Tim Cooper.
