13.84 inches of rain in 1 spot in July? Choc-Pea says yes

Parts of Covington County experienced a really rainy July, but year-to-date rainfall totals are still behind the same period last year.

The Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority released the data this week.

The Choc-Pea Authority has recorded 46.41 inches of rain at Yellow River on Hwy. 84 compared to 51.09 inches of rain in the same period in 2017. In July, the rainfall there totaled 13.84 inches, almost double the amount recorded there in July of 2017..

Choc-Pea also monitors rainfall at Yellow River on Hwy. 55. Year to date, the agency has recorded 33.44 inches of rain on Hwy. 55, compared to 42.04 inches of rain in the same period of 2017. In July, the rainfall there totaled 5.08 inches compared to 4.28 inches in July of 2017.
