Run for God plans fall 5K class

Run for God Andalusia will begin Class VIII for the Andalusia area on Sat., Sept. 1.

The 12-week program prepares beginners to run a 5K, or 3.1 miles. The first week, participants will run for one minute. Twelve weeks later, they will have the strength and endurance to run a 5K. There also will be a walking group, and for seasoned runners, a 10K and half marathon training will be offered.

The Sept. 1 meeting is set for 7:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church student building. The 5K and walking training sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:45 p.m, and Saturdays at 7:30 a.m.

Instructors include Don Cotton, Jennifer O’Neal and Tammy Cross.

The is no charge to participate.

The class graduation run will be the Candyland 5K and half marathon.
